The artist Nicole Baumfalk completed her master studies with Prof. Johannes Spehr in Kassel in 2018. With her still lifes, she creates a balancing act between kitsch and tradition and allows the genre to blossom anew. She brings back the paintings of motionless objects, which were reserved for the authorities in the 17th century, in bright colors and in old master painting technique. She questions the taste of the viewer in the extraordinary motifs. Artificial flowers from discount stores, found objects from flea markets, plastic vases in piercing colors and in between animals from the comic book. All this can be found colorful and gaudy in her works. With her precious kitsch she holds on to a tradition that has not yet lost its fascination.
